The University of Texas System developed the Coordinated Admission Program (CAP) to expand the admission options available to students interested in enrolling at The University of Texas at Austin, the system’s flagship university.
In general, CAP makes it possible for some freshman applicants to UT Austin to begin their studies at another UT System university. After completing CAP requirements during their freshman year, students transfer to UT Austin to complete their undergraduate studies.
If you are offered and decide to participate in CAP, you don’t have to apply for admission to the UT System university you attend during your freshman year. Simply complete the CAP agreement to let us know that you want to participate. You’re guaranteed admission to most majors in UT Austin’s College of Liberal Arts upon successful completion of the program (although admission to specific Liberal Arts majors are not guaranteed). And just like any other prospective transfer student, you’ll be able to compete for admission to majors in colleges outside of Liberal Arts.
Advising – Lauren Minaudo, capadvisor@uta.edu
All new incoming CAP students will be required to meet for a group advising session. Group advising will happen after a student completes their CAP agreements and is admitted to UTA and before they attend orientation. Group advising dates will populate in early March and can be found on the CAP advisors Booking link.
Group advising sessions will go over CAP requirements, enrollment requirements, approved coursework, registration and provide next steps for students in the CAP journey. Group advising will also go over holds and how students will remove them. Follow-up information will be sent out to students who attend a session.
To register for Group Advising students will need the following. Please choose the appointment labeled UT CAP Virtual Group Advising Session.
Current students should book an individual advising appointment each semester with the CAP advisor to go over their process, courses, and questions.
Students who attend UTA to fulfill their CAP requirements will be required to attend UTA for Summer, Fall, and Spring semesters.
